Fusion cooking at it´s finest and most delicious :
Arachis Oil from South America (Peru or Brasil), Bucatini and Tomato Paste from Italy, Pork Neck Steak from Germany, Hoisin Sauce and Soy Sauce from China, smoked Paprika from Spain, Mirin from Japan, Maggi Seasoning from Switzerland and Chiles from Mexico.
Prep time, including pasta, 20 minutes.
As for the Napkin ring, old, sterilized tomato paste cans are my idea of witty, pretty and cheap economical tools/deco.  🙂

Curried Pasta With Shrimp, Mushrooms, Veggies And Egg

>
>
This  dish is one of my  “go to”  dishes when contemplating endlessly without resolve in my mind what I will cook for the next meal.
Although I am a sucker for real curry, pasta sautéed in curry powder and “stuff” is something I can eat happily any time of the day, as often as twice a week.
Usually the basic ingredients are items I have always stocked in my fridge, freezer or cupboard:
Pasta, beef, shrimp or chicken, any type of vegetables, curry powder, a bit of kecap manis, chili paste, soy sauce or maggi seasoning, onion or scallion, eggs and herbs.
An added bonus to this dish is that it reheat’s wonderfully. (Some say it’s even better when re-heated) 🙂

Shrimp And Sardines Pie

>
>
The other day I felt like having pizza.  Or lahmacun.  Or grilled seafood.  Or a nice sardine salad. Or………….
Well, at first I couldn’t make up my mind, but once I opened the fridge and the cupboard, it all came together. The result was this stunner, which was the tastiest seafood pie I’ve ever had. The secret to it’s bedazzling aroma and flavor ? The combination of it’s roasted sardines, shrimp, lot’s of garlic and oregano, the superb pizza dough, the wonderfully fragrant harissa and EVO and a few drops of maggi seasoning.
Can it get any better than this?? Maybe, but not very likely 🙂

Grilled Tenderloin With Mushrooms And Cannellini Beans

<
>
Although  I have cut back on my consumption of red meat, I still crave a rare steak once in a while. Tenderloin is not usually my cut of choice (that would be bone-in rib eye), but my Argentinian butcher had a special of grass-fed, cleaned and trimmed beef tenderloin for 26.85 per pound. Who could say no to that ? – not me, since the same quality and cut runs usually a lot higher around here.
This cut and quality needs no fru fru, just some kosher salt, garlic oil and chili oil and that’s it – beef heaven 🙂
The mushrooms with cannellini beans are the perfect side dish, spicy, flavorful and hearty.
What a great dinner, Bella and myself perfectly happy and ready to plan the next meal 🙂

Asian Inspired Fiery Lamb With Egg Noodles And Vegetables

>
>
This  is comfort food at it’s finest.
What quick, easy and affordable food can be more comforting than spicy, juicy noodles with ground meat of any type, vegetables of any sort, seasoned to that just slightly burning mouthfeel that feel’s oh so good and satisfying after your taste buds have adjusted to the heat after the first few bites.
Tonight I have used lamb, egg noodles , cabbage, peppers, onions and scallions, but you could use any protein, such as pork, beef, chicken, shrimp, scallops. You  could also substitute the egg noodles with any other type of pasta, as well as use the vegetables of your choice/ availability. This is such a versatile dish that only your fantasy  limits your choice of ingredients.
Experiment for a bit and you will arrive at your very own favorite version of this dish 🙂

Saute  mushrooms, add potatoes,  scallions and peppers, season with (lots) of freshly ground black pepper and (not a lot) kosher salt, add garlic paste, saute until fragrant. Add blanched  broccoli  and shrimp, saute until broccoli is heated through and  shrimps are just cooked. Remove from heat, add  maggi seasoning  (or soy sauce  if you prefer), mix and serve. Goes best with a cold beer 🙂
( Relax, it’s your day off ! )
