Harissa

Shrimp And Sardines Pie

>
>
The other day I felt like having pizza.  Or lahmacun.  Or grilled seafood.  Or a nice sardine salad. Or………….
Well, at first I couldn’t make up my mind, but once I opened the fridge and the cupboard, it all came together. The result was this stunner, which was the tastiest seafood pie I’ve ever had. The secret to it’s bedazzling aroma and flavor ? The combination of it’s roasted sardines, shrimp, lot’s of garlic and oregano, the superb pizza dough, the wonderfully fragrant harissa and EVO and a few drops of maggi seasoning.
Can it get any better than this?? Maybe, but not very likely 🙂

Lamb Meat Balls In Harissa/Tomato Sauce, With Garlicky Pearl Pasta And Feta Cheese

>
>
Last  month my friend Curtis introduced me to a store which I have been missing all my cooking  life. It’s the “Foodtown Supermarket” in Davie, corner sterling/dairy rd extension. Here I can find EVERYTHING my culinary cravings will ever desire as far as Asian and Latino food ingredients are concerned. EVERYTHING !!! 🙂  – Live frogs, live crabs, live shrimps, fresh fish heads, intestines, you get the idea.
(You can check it out online by clicking this link, especially read the comments) 🙂
Although Merguez sausage is neither Asian nor Latino, Foodtown has a great quality one on offer, as well as a small selection of  other African/Mediterranean items.
So yesterday after work I stopped by there for a few goodies and amongst other stuff I got merguez sausage, harissa and pearl pasta (Piombi)
So here is what I had for lunch today :

Meat Ball Sandwich – Merguez Meatballs In Harissa/Tomato Sauce On Garlic Bread

>
>
My  neighbor and friend Sami is from Egypt. He sometimes gives me some Egyptian, Middle Eastern and/or Mediterranean food to taste, usually about once a month.
Normally it is fully cooked and nicely presented, but yesterday morning he gave me some Merguez stuffing he had just prepared and asked me to “make something different with it”.
Here is what I came up with. I enjoyed it a lot and so did he 🙂

For the sauce, I mixed 2/3 tomato sauce with 1/3 of harissa.
(This sauce was so good, I think I will use it for other dishes or as dipping sauce in the future)
