    1. Hi Laurel,
As I have mentioned many times, recipes are guidelines only. Use what you like and what you have available and what is economically practical for you 🙂

However, when it come to Maggi Seasoning, it’s an acquired taste addition for all soups, salads, pasta, sauces, stews etc. Once you get used to it, you will not want to miss it anymore. It is also available online.
      Cheers 🙂

  1. Chef Hans, I love learning about new things. Until I started following you blog, I had never heard of Maggi Seasoning. I have noticed you listing it in some of your recipes. Can you tell me about it? Thanks! D =)

  2. In many places in europe you will find maggi seasoning as a condiment next to salt and pepper on the table in many homes. We slash a bit on soups, salads, sauces, pasta and stews. It gives a special umami. Use sparingly so as not to overpower the food itself 🙂

  3. This really look too good, and the little mushrooms too. Where is your restaurant? About Maggi Seasoning, I don’t know it but we have a lot of Maggi products around, that I try not to use because I try to awoid MSG and other chemicals, but that is maybe not what it is..?

  4. Hi Bente,
I don’t have a restaurant anymore, I am semi-retired. All the food you see on my site I cook daily just for me and my dog Bella 🙂
As for the Maggi Seasoning, I use the liquid seasoning in bottles.
The mushrooms are chinese straw mushrooms.
    Cheers
