Aaahhhhh, never judge a book by its cover, nor a dish by it´s name ! 🙂
If you do, you might have just past by this wonderful little dish, never to know what culinary gem is lurking behind its unassuming name.
Which cook in the World would sink so low and be proud and happy about “scrambled eggs & bread”, to actually publish a post about this ? –
Well, I actually am, and I must say, when I plated this dish for Bella and myself, I was  smiling and feeling happy about the food we were about to eat (or, in Bellas case, about to devour.) 🙂
The Turkish flatbread came out of our neighborhoods Turkish bakers oven just about 30 minutes earlier (he delivers) ; the eggs are fresh from my neighbor’s hens, and the tomatoes, green chilies, cucumbers and scallions come from the farms in the immediate area.
So everything was as fresh as can be, and with a simple dish like this, the difference to supermarket food is apparent in every bite.
Nothing against supermarket food, I have eaten it and enjoyed most it most of my life, just that when possible, I like to eat the fresh and less processed stuff 🙂
So there you have it – a great, fresh, affordable, quick and easy to prepare dish I love ( so does Bella) and of which  I can be proud of, five stars or not. 🙂

  1. Hi Hans, hope all is well with you and Bella, its been awhile since we last communicated. I’m sure your are enjoying being back home with your relatives and friends, quite a change from Florida, I’m sure you miss the Sunshine state at times, except for all the bugs in the summer time and humidity. yes, we were in a lock down for about two months, things are begining to loosen up with 25 states opening in a phased program. We hope that we wont fall back into the same problem with these early openings, erase most of what we have already accomplished. over 65K in deaths, nothing to play with, its still 65K humans that will be missed. Hans take care, and Bella Too. Continue to enjoy your kitchen, with all those wonderful culinary delights you have shared with us over the years. A Chef never really retires, we continue to enjoy our kitchen, but its mostly for us and family now, not the world! Be blessed – John & Elli

    1. HI John and Eli !
I so enjoy hearing from you and that you are both doing well 🙂
I was thinking of you sometimes when I looked at the comments and there was only silence from you.
Last time we communicated you mentioned that things were no so good, so I was afraid of the worst.
So, thank the Lord, we are all doing fine and we all were lucky enough to survive and come out stronger at the other end 🙂
Bella and I are doing great, moving here has been a perfect decision.
Healthwise, things are not so well, but I will not complain about it.
I feel blessed to be around, have my Bella, good friends,(although far away, but thanks for WhatsApp, one can have regular facetime for free), I can get around reasonably well and generally have no unfulfilled wishes.
I assume you have read that I have cut back on ChefsOpinion

  2. There must have been something in the air tonight that made us crave eggs and bread. I made something very similar today except that the bread was my own usual homemade bread. I would love to try the Turkish bread one of these days. It looks really good.
