Gekochtes Rindfleish In Meerettich Sauce – Boiled Chuck Roast In Horseradish Sauce

One  of the reasons I miss Europe so much is the fact that dishes like this are practically impossible to find on a restaurant menu here (or in any home, for that matter). Simple, delicious, real food one can eat with gusto. Mind you, I would not want this every day, but once in a while…….
So, as usual, if you want the best, you might as well learn to prepare it yourself 🙂

  1. Hans, this reminds me of the homestyle food where in grew up. I will make this Monday and I think the horseradish sauce will take it out of the park, especially if I can find fresh roots to grind myself. Used to dig after the first frost up until the ground froze. I had a cooking partner help me prepare it and just scrubbing the roots took your breath away. He decided to use his dive mask and snorkel when I put it in the Cuisinart. Unfortunately just as I added the vinegar his snorkel fell into the feedtube. Disastrous for him; I thought he’d died when he collapsed on the floor. It took 2hours for the fumes to subside…pungent stuff!
