How Every day Should Start – Good Stuff By The Lake

This  is what we call in Germany a “Bauernfrühstück”, a farmers Breakfast, usually taken around 11.00am.
Cold cuts and/or cheeses, rustic bread and a glass of red vine.

I had this at 10.00am today – Life is Good 🙂

Bon Appetit !   An Guate !

  1. I remember those breakfasts from my visit to Germany. Since we were staying at a gasthaus, we were urged to pack the leftovers to take with us for picnic lunches. The most delicious meals I ever ate were in Germany and in my German grandmom’s kitchen.

    1. I take my breakfast seriously also. Have a broken wing right now, so it’s hard to cook with one hand, but I can stick sausages, bread and cheese in the oven, and put some eggs in there with them also. Amazing how you can learn to crack an egg with one hand when you have to.

    1. Thanks Chef. Guess I should have told you I’m half German, and spent 3 glorious weeks there in the 80’s, so I’ve had lots of German breakfasts. My grandmom could turn out some of the best food in the world, and I absolutely loved spending nights with her. She and Pop were dairy farmers and she had her “pet” cows that were always milked by hand. I loved the warm smell of the milking barn, and she taught me to milk one of her pets. The rest were hooked up to the machines, but Mom always hand milked her 15 pets morning and night.

  2. Would much rather have your German farmers breakfast than eggs and toast. My parents would take me with them when I was a kid to visit an old German couple on their farm, and the breakfast table, set up outside for all the friends visiting, had an array like yours, lots of cheeses, including the “stinky” ones, cold cuts, and hearty breads. Memories.
